Merry Christmas!! (Bah Humbug!)
It's Christmas time again and the webmaster is swearing a blue streak at it.
He is not a fan of the season. The webmaster is especially annoyed because
he had to drive to Maine on business. He was required to install a software
auditing package in a plant recently "acquired" by the company he
works for. Why he doesn't know since the documentation is quite good.
(Should be since I spent 2 months working on the project) His manager said
"Go North and Install!" so he did. Nothing like driving for 4
hours round trip to do something that takes about an hour to set up and configure.
Well at $.34/mile he is going to make out just fine.
Someone emailed the webmaster saying that they were getting a page error.
This happened only in the Netscape 4.7x series of browsers. Simply clean out
your cache and the problem corrects its self.

Happy Thanks Giving! Today is the day when Americans overeat, start
drinking at 10am and watch football games all day long. ;)
People may have noticed that Anger Central did a number of updates over the
last few days. This is due to the new server. We have been able to tweak
this site and reactivate old functions. For instance the search page is now
back online. We've also been going through and checking links that may be
broken. Things are much better now.
- November 20, 2001
Anger Central has moved to a new server. We now have the M$ FrontPage extensions
working correctly, and all previous functionality is now working. We
anticipate reactivating the search page this weekend. Thanks to the staff of
WaveWizard for their assistance in
nailing down this problem
- November 18, 2001
It appears that the add pages decided to break down sometime last week.
We are in the process of moving Anger Central to a new server, but this will
take a little time. Meanwhile it appears that the add page is working again.
- November 10, 2001
Nothing sucks like closing down a plant. The webmaster is part of an IT
group that is closing down the small plant on the site he works at. The
plant is but a small part of the site, but he has had to go out and recover
a number of systems of people who have been laid off. He has known some of
these people for several years now. Last week an entire department was let
go. This sucks.

We received a couple of pro-Taliban postings primarily aimed at Anger
Central and how we occasionally respond to postings. From the way they were
written, it was obvious that the poster was not a native speaker of English.
We decided that we aren't going to be used for propaganda by pro-Taliban
We have been watching the news and find it remarkable just how incredibly
stupid and suicidal these people are. The United States is trying to avoid a
general war between the west and Islam. The more radical Muslims seem bent on having just
such a war. If they get their wish the war will last about 3 hours. That
will be the length of time it will take the United States to target and launch
it's SLBM and ICBM forces and essentially exterminate the Arab/Muslim
We at Anger Central hope that the more rational among them will convince the
less rational that they will not become martyrs, but only unknown dead. No
one will be left to make them martyrs since most followers of Islam will
have been wiped out. We are NOT the enemies of Islam unless you make it that
way. Think about that please.

We like back ups here. As we were working on our site here we found a
link that didn't work. It was actually attached to a good sized file, and we
aren't sure what happened t it. The file was missing from three different
systems and the main server as well. No worries. The Systems Administrator
broke out a back up tape and was able to restore the file. The webmaster was
bonked by the systems administrator for being such a LUSER. (The Angry
Another week of layoffs at the company the webmaster works for. A lot of
long term people that he knew were let go on October 26. And yet the company
is still buying other companies. Go figure.
(And I'll get you for that last posting S.A. (The Angry Webmaster)
- October 20, 2001
Well the company the Webmaster works for is doing more layoffs. This
time they are going through the IT groups. The place he works lost it's
network engineer and another plant lost it's second shift tech. Because of
that we had to send ours to back fill reducing our local IT groups
capabilities. Just another indication of extreme short-sightedness on the
part of some companies. The webmaster is awaiting his "You are no
longer needed" notice. Since he works in a former corporate HQ from a
company now taken over, his site is primarily offices. The one plant is
being shut down, but it seems that more people are being sent up from other
facilities, and they are all office workers in need of more hand holding.

VIRUS ALERT!! Anger Central was hit
with the Nimda Virus during our last update. We aren't certain how it got in
since we do not use Microsoft mail products, and scan any attachments we receive.
It took us several days to clean out our primary production system, but we
think some of the pages we sent up might be infected. We contacted our
hosting company and warned them that there might be a problem. Repeated
scans with our virus scanner, (which did show the virus infection, but
couldn't clean it) indicate that we have successfully eradicated the virus
from this system.
We have deleted the entire web site and replaced it to be on the safe side.
Please check your system. If you do find the virus, or suspect that you have
it, you may find cleaners at www.tucows.com
that are free for the general public. Do a search on Nimda and you should
find 3 cleaners. We used all three to clear this and all our other systems.
Thank you and we do apologize for any inconvenience.

The United States has been attacked by a terrorist group. The World
Trade Center has been destroyed and the Pentagon has been damaged. Over 1000
people are now confirmed dead and the estimates of the dead are in the tens
of thousands. Please read this Note
from Anger Central. It was done in the heat of the moment to a posting,
but we stand by our remarks. We will be posting more as information becomes

One of our readers noticed that the update schedule was incorrectly set to
44 days. That was our fault. The webmaster was working on his laptop and
typoed the dates. It has been corrected.
- August 16, 2001
Just a brief note. Since the FrontPage extensions on the web server have
been hosed, we have to ftp the updates to Anger Central. This is a major
pain in the neck since we essentially have to delete directories and reload
them when we do site maintenance, (Deleting or moving files). Anger Centrals
management is debating building their own server and taking it to the
hosting company. We will keep you updated.
- August 11, 2001
The webmaster just returned from a vacation stay at that same lake he
was at last year. This time he just spent the entire vacation sleeping in a
hammock outside. He did do a few updates since he brought a laptop this
- August 6, 2001
The webmaster went up to the hosting company and took a look at the
server. He worked on it for 4 hours but was not able to get the IIS 4.0 web
server to work with FrontPage 2000 web extensions. The server has been
rebuilt and it may be an installation problem. So what this means is we will
have to FTP the web site up instead of the usual method used by FrontPage.
It is also an old server and the owner of the hosting company is
getting new equipment in soon. Anger Central is also thinking of building a
server and plugging it into their network. He has received an OK from the
owners to do just that, and spreading the load onto other servers would be

Anger Central Down time.
Ok fans, you have all been wondering why there have been no updates, and why
the site has been acting so oddly the last 10 days or so. (Directory
listings instead of home pages, broken links, etc) Well, a couple of weeks
ago someone hacked into the server that hosts Anger Central and other web
sites. The Hosting company has been working to rebuild and secure the
server. They have completed this late last week, but haven't fully
re-activated the Anger Central web site.
Late Friday we received our new logins and passwords. However, we were not
able to gain access to the site via M$ FrontPage, nor were we able to get
into it using FTP. We have spoken with the admin and the owner of the
hosting company and they have corrected that error.
No information was lost since Anger Central has this web site backed up on
tape and also on 3 separate local systems, not to mention the hosting companies
system. We thank you for your patience in this matter. Perhaps it is time to
do a rant against these crackers who think it is fun breaking into systems.
A visit from the FBI might change their mind, and if we find out, we will be
a lot less concerned about their civil rights as we take a sledge hammer to

Anger Central Hacked!!
Sometime during the week of July 15-21
the server that hosts Anger Central as well as many other web sites was
hacked by a Denial of Service attack. It appears that a Trojan virus somehow
slipped into the server, either through an upload from one of the ISP's
clients or through a direct break in to the server. Because of this the site
was not responding when we tried to upload changes to it. We contacted the
web hosting company and they told us they had to take the server offline.
They moved all the web sites to another server, but this one does not use
the Microsoft FrontPage extensions. Because of this, the web site has not
been functioning correctly. Anger Central has back ups of the web site,
(Multiple in fact), and no data was lost.
- July 7, 2001
The web cam is back up again. The hard drive has been replaced, and
while we were at it we had the whole system upgraded. We now have a new
Pentium III 1Ghz system with 256megs of RAM. For those who care, we have 4
systems networked together here. Our primary system is called Bitter. Bitter
is a PIII 800mhz system. The recently rebuilt system is called Rage. We also
have an old P166 called Fury and our Anger Central traveling system, (HP
Omnibook 6000 Laptop), a P600 is called Annoyed. You may have detected a
trend on our naming conventions here. ;-)
- July 1, 2001
Not much is happening at Anger Central. The Webmaster has been told he is
taking a vacation this week along with most of the IT staff at his company.
This wasn't one that was planned, but the Webmaster was lucky enough to have
sufficient vacation time available to take this week off. Others in his
department don't have the time and they are "vacationing" without
pay. The facility the Webmaster works in is a 4 building complex, mostly
offices. There is one small plant that is being shut down for the week, but
the rest of the site will be open. In a fit of spectacular planning, there
will be 2 junior techs on site. It's also End of Quarter and the finance
people will be in their quarterly panic mode. Well the Webmaster has turned
off his cell phone and won't be taking any calls.
His company has also decided that they needed to lay off people in the IT
departments and one of his co-workers was let go. If anyone needs a Desktop
person please contact Anger Central and we will put you in touch with her.
She is a very quick study and will pick up your needs in short order. She is
based in New Hampshire.
The Anger Central web cam is down again. This is the same box we had
problems with last winter. This time a hard drive failed on it. While we are
fixing it we decided to do an upgrade. This system will be a 1Ghz computer.

This is Memorial Day weekend. In the United States, this is the time we
remember all those who have given their lives to defend our nation, our
liberties and our way of life. From Anger Central to all those who have
served our country, Thank you!
It looks like Anger Central has made the big time. We have been contacted by
an Author, Henry Alford, who is publishing a book. this book, Out There: My Search to Find the Funniest Person on the Internet
will be published on June 15th. Needless to say, BUY THIS BOOK!!

The webmaster has found a person who has great talent in web design. As
is well known, the Webmaster is much better at setting up servers than
actually doing anything requiring artistry. She has given him a new idea for
the layout of of the company store. At this stage it is just a prototype and
is not viewable to the public. However, we believe that she will make a
great addition to the Anger Central team if she chooses to sign on with our

The webmaster now has a new laptop. Now we can make sure he updates this
site on time. No more excuses about not being available!

The add page is now up and running. :-)

Problems with the Add page. It appears that the form mail script we use
to process submissions to Anger Central has stopped working. We have no idea
what has happened, but we will be working on it. The earliest it can be
fixed is Monday if the problem is with the server. Rants can still be
. We hope
to have this fixed soon.
- February 17, 2001
The Questions and Answers page has been updated. We
also received a valentine's rant that was terrific in it's anger. See
it here and enjoy. We have also got our web cam back up and running.
Once again the world has a view of the back webmaster's head.
- February 10, 2000
Well the webmaster has finally gotten two of three systems back up and
running and the third should be ready by the end of the day. Soon the web cam
will be back online!!
- January 20, 2001
Happy Birthday to the Web Master! Yep, the webmaster just celebrated his
40th birthday. Some celebration. :-p 2 of his three systems are down for
repairs and his car just failed inspection for a missing front license

Happy New Year!!
Well, Anger Central is now 3 years old this month. So far, the new year has
run true to form. Some of you may notice that the web cam image on our
communications page is not working. 2 weeks ago our web cam server lost all
4 internal cooling fans. We had them replaced and added more ram to the
server. When it was brought back into our data center and started, the hard
drive had failed. We are now waiting for a replacement to come in. Fortunately,
the drive is only about 1 1/5 years old so it is still covered under warranty.
We still have to pay shipping and handling, and we also have to reinstall
all our software on it again. Lucky for us there wasn't anything really
important on that box. Anything important was backed up.
