Here we are, the last update of the year 2000. And an interesting year
it has been. The company that the webmaster works for was bought out by a
bigger company, the United States elected a new president after a very tumultuous
race and Anger Central has grown by leaps and bounds. Now for a few
statistics:
Since January first, we have received 3753 postings and emails directed at
Anger Central. 3696 were actual rants sent in. Of that about 60% were posted
to the site. We averaged 500 visitors per day. Our People page was the most
heavily trafficked page with the home page coming in a close second. (Hmm,
looks like people have book marked the people page) The least visited page
was the Company Store home page. Looks like our fans are cheap bastards and
won't buy anything. The webmaster has been using Link Exchange to generate
our basic stats. He also just started up with Hitbox and is testing it out
to see if it will be a better guide for us.
What have we got planned for next year? We have no ideas at this time other
than try to keep up with the volume of postings here. So, to all our fans,
thank you for stopping by. Please tell your friends, (if you have any), and
don't tell the lawyers. ;-)
- December 12, 2000
Anger Central has renewed our domain name for 5 years.
(Note from webmaster to management: You did WHAT??? I'll get you for that!!
(Webmaster sees himself stuck here until he dies))
- November 25, 2000
Major disaster at Anger Central!!
On November 24, at about 7am EST, the webmaster was trying out a software
package designed to remove advertising applications that may have been
hidden on his PC's. While the system worked perfectly on Windows 98 box, it
was an unmitigated disaster on his NT box. Several critical files were
deleted out of the O/S and his system wouldn't boot correctly. The upshot
was he had to format and reinstall his system. This took several hours.
Now the good news. Those who use NT know that it is limited to 4 gigabytes
on the C drive unless you do a few odd things first. The webmaster finds
this a good thing since he tends to keep all his data on his D drive until
he does a backup. This data was not touched and included all the postings he
had done for the week to date, and all his email with the latest rants. An
estimated 60 rants that he had feared were lost have been recovered and have
been posted to the website. He is also increasing the frequency of his
backups now. :-)
We have also signed up with Hitbox.com
to test out a new stats system. This may not last.
- November 22, 2000
There was a posting that came in that was actually a question meant for
the webmaster. This was added to the Questions and Answer's
page.
- November 4, 2000
Things have been changing at the company the webmaster works for. His
company was merged with a larger company last summer. Since then, all but a handful
of people in his department have left. (Information technology) The latest
one has handed in his notice. The webmaster's new manager is driving him up
a wall and he has decided it is time to move on. If you have any junior
NT/UNIX admin or desktop support jobs in New Hampshire, please consider this
resume.
- October 8, 2000
We have noticed a marked increase in racist postings. Most of them have
not been going up. We are a site dedicated to anger and those things that
make you angry. The hate sites are two doors down and to the left.
- September 23, 2000
Updated our questions and answers page.
- August 26, 2000
Updated the Questions and Answers page.
Anger Central was threatened by someone with a lawsuit. We will not be going
into details, but we have sorted it out mostly in our favor. ;-)
- August 12, 2000
As promised, here are some pictures I took while on vacation. I hope you
enjoy my "What I did on my Summer
Vacation!" page.
Yeah I know, real original title there.
- July 30, 2000
We're back from vacation and have reopened the Add to Anger Central
page. We have been following the news while away, and we are expecting not a
few comments dealing with Napster. The webmaster has sent the film of his
vacation in to be developed, and if they are any good he will scan them in
and put them online.
- July 22, 2000
For only the second time in our history we have pulled a rant. This was
because the poster apparently is nuts and was terminated from his/her
position because of a threat he/she posed to the person he/she was posting
about. Anger Central will NOT be a party to threats, intimidation or
acts of violence towards others. We have written the person the poster was
writing about and have removed the post at that persons request. If we
discover more postings about this person we will hand them over to the proper
legal authorities if requested. However, there isn't much they can do with
the original email since all header information is stripped out before we receive
it.
If this moron continues to be a threat to this person and this person's
family we will gladly stand with this person to protect this person and this
persons family.
(You will note the excessive use of "This person" in this update.
We are not going to do anything to cause further injury to them so we are
using this phrase to disguise this persons sex and identity)
- July 15, 2000
The crew at Anger Central is going on vacation starting Friday July 21.
We will do updates to the site locally, then post them on our usual
schedule. The webmaster is planning to close the Add page until we return.
He was mumbling something about not wanting to deal with hundreds of Irate
people on his return. So just keep those rants handy and we will be back up
by the 30th. :-)
The webmaster has finally met his new manager. He isn't impressed with what
the new company plans on doing. Still, it will take 6-9 months for this plan
to start and his old manager has other ideas. We shall see.
- June 24, 2000
Well, it is all official now. The company that the webmaster works for
is no more. It has been merged with a new company. For those in the
business, my old company was the largest maker of backplanes in North
America. Since we don't know the new management and how they will react, we
will not name names. Occasionally the webmaster has ranted a bit about where
he works. He has never named any company though. We think you know why. ;-)
- June 4, 2000
The webmaster is going off to classes at the end of June. He will be
learning how to use the Sun Microsystems version of UNIX. Nothing like going
to clue school and coming back with all sorts of new clues.
VACATION!
The last week of July the webmaster will be going on vacation. He will
not have a computer nor will he have a cell phone or pager. :-)
- May 27. 2000
This is memorial Day weekend in the United States. On this weekend we
remember all those men and women who laid down their lives to protect our
constitution and our way of life. Without them, Anger Central would no doubt
be banned by the politically correct fascists of the left and the
right.
Anger central has received another request from the media asking about us
and asking to repost one of the rants listed here. Since they were nice
enough to ask we said to go ahead, remarking to them that we do not have any
way of tracing back the poster. As is usually the case we have not heard
back from them yet, and if this runs true to form, we never will. :-p
- May 7, 2000
Anger Central is toying with the idea of a weekly comic strip, sort of
like the one we like, User
Friendly. This would be a once a week strip following our premise. A
character angry at something or everything. As has been amply demonstrated
on this site, the Webmaster has no artistic talent, let alone the imagination
required to come up with a strip. If any of our fans out there would like to
take part in this please drop a line to the webmaster@angry.net
and we will see if this is an idea that will be worth doing. What will the
pay be? Same as the webmasters. $0.00. :-)
Please, only serious people should contact us. If we find someone and go
ahead with this it will be a long time commitment.
On another front, the company that the webmaster works for is in the process
of being acquired by another company. Stay tuned for developments.
- April 15, 2000
Well it's Tax time in the USA. The webmaster just got his tax forms back
from the accountant. For the first time he OWES money!! Essentially he will
be signing over a full paycheck to those greedy slime sucking scumbags in Washington
D.C. Looks like we opened the new Politics page just in time.
Anger Central is seeing a lot of racist garbage coming in. This is not the
purpose of this site. While we do post some of it, (Generally with a comment
about what a moron the poster is), it's getting old. We would suggest
the KKK web site would be more receptive to your ignorance and stupidity.
- April 1, 2000
We have activated the new section, Politics, Government and Lawyers. The
site has a few postings in it, all gathered from rants on other sections of
Anger Central. There are dozens of such listings, and as we find them we
will be moving them to this new section. If you find one that should be
moved, please let us know.
- March 25, 2000
The new section is almost done. You will see a new choice on the Add
page under the pull down menu. It's called Politics, Government &
Lawyers. The page is not quite ready so it hasn't been linked in yet. One of
the things we want to do here is move all the posts concerning politicians,
scumbags...err, lawyers and the government to this section. Since these are
scattered all throughout this website it will take some time. If you notice
any rants that should be moved please email
links@angry.net
and we will move them. Please use the full file name, (Such as www.angry.net/people/clinton.htm).
This will help us track it down.
The consolidation of rants is continuing. You will notice where once there
was dozens of rants listed, now there is only one. When you follow the link
you will find all the old rants listed there. This is being done to save
space on the server, and to reduce the load time of the index pages.
- March 19, 2000
Anger Central is working on a new section. This one will be dedicated to
the most annoying people you can think of. Politicians, lawyers and government.
Stay tuned for the grand opening!
- March 12, 2000
The webmaster has been very busy at his regular job. He just finished
working 12 days straight. The company he works for is in the process of
rolling out an entirely new email system. The webmaster had to spend the
weekend installing Outlook 2000 on 80 computers in the manufacturing plant.
Fun Fun Fun! 12 of their antiquated systems were not able to take the new
software. 8 because of disk space, (600 meg drives?!?!?!?) one because the
user had password protected the BIOS and he didn't know the password, (That
user was ripped soundly by management) and one system that had the hard
drive fail during the install. Just an FYI. All the systems that failed were Compaq. ;-}
- February 26, 2000
Well folks, the webmaster had a little fender bender last weekend. We
had a nice little storm up here and the webmasters jeep collided with
another vehicle. No one was hurt thankfully, but the Anger Central jeep
suffered minor damage to the fender. The other vehicle was a brand new
pickup truck. The damage wasn't minor there. The webmaster's first guess is
about $2000. Regardless of rants about them, we like having auto insurance.
The reason for the collision was simple. A bad curve and the fact that the
city hadn't plowed the road for 3-4 hours. The webmaster almost managed to
avoid the other truck, but it wasn't to be. In our opinion neither driver
was at fault, the city is for their negligence in not maintaining the
road.
This is a back road, but it is also a very heavily traveled one. If that
road had been plowed this accident would not have happened. Because of the
nature of the terrain, (A sharp S curve on a hill) Both vehicles were barely
moving. The webmasters jeep lost traction and he wasn't able to regain it
due to all the snow and ice on the road. Collision speed was probably only
about 1 mile an hour.
The estimate of damage on the Anger Central Jeep came in under our insurance
deductible so we'll be paying that out of pocket. According to our insurance
company they think that because of the road conditions no blame will be
assigned and both companies will pay for their own vehicles. Works for me!
- February 13, 2000
We have been tracking some of the statistics on our web site. We use
Link Exchange since it's cheap, (Read free) to do basic stats on our web
site. They have been interesting. It seems that the people
page is the most popular by far with the store
page getting very few hits. Come on people!! Go to the store page and
buy stuff!! If you don't see something you like use the search engine. That
will check out Amazon.com for you.
- February 6, 2000
Consolidation of pages is continuing slowly but surely. If you notice a
section that used to have multiple entries on one basic subject,
(Compaq Computers for instance), click on the link and you will see all the
old rants listed. The basic goal is to have the main pages load more quickly
and to reduce the actual disk space used by Anger Central.
- February 5, 2000
In a fit of complete laziness, the webmaster has changed the time on the
indicators to 30 days. The reason
being that the script we use defaults to that and it's easier to leave it
than change it.
- January 29, 2000
ACK! The webmaster really put his foot in it this morning! He accidentally
marked 40 new rants as read, and now has to go through and check the last
100 rants that came in!! When Anger Central receives a rant, it is sorted
newest to oldest, We go through them and mark those that are going to be
posted as unread. Unfortunately, the Webmaster was a little quick on the
trigger this morning and hit the Mark all as read button my mistake. We will
be sorting through them trying to recover all the good ones.
Anger Central is now breaking this page up. We will be archiving the news by
year. New links are now in place on the menu above. For new people, please
go through the Anger Central News Archives.
We will now start posting the latest news on the Anger Central home page.
This will be replaced with an updated news item as needed.
- January 24, 2000
As of today we are now putting small
icons next to new posts. These will be in place for at least 10 days.
- January 23, 2000
Starting today, Anger Central is putting multiple posts on the same
subject into one page. Whenever you see this image, ,
That means a subject has been updated by Anger Central. The image will
remain in place for 1 month.
- January 16, 2000
We got a lot of posts this week. Over 40 of them, and quite a few were
from Australia. In fact as we were doing the update more posts came in.
Whew!
We're still working on them. Anger Central is attempting to move to a
database system, but we have literally thousands of posts to go through and
input into our database. It's very slow work. One day we hope to have this
whole site working from a database rather than the individual pages we now
use.
The Angry Webmaster is starting to consolidate pages. Those subjects that
have are titled <subject> 1, <Subject> 2 etc, will be placed on
one single page. When we get our database up and running, (sometime in the
year 3000), the individual pages will probably be brought back.
We received a message from a Adam L. Carsey asking Anger Central to remove a
post about Kolar Business Machines. We posted his rebuttal and linked it from the original rant.
- January 1, 2000
Happy Birthday to Angry.Net! This is the second anniversary of Anger
Central. It has been a very busy year for the crew here at Anger Central. We
have begun to redesign the site, all be it very slowly and the webmaster has
been busy trying out new things on our development site. One of the things
that he has been looking into is combining rants. as you know, we do tend to
get a lot of rants that are about the same subject although they are
different in what they say. For instance, the America's Best rants on the
companies page has nearly 20 different rants about the poor service from
this company. The people page is over 100K in size and growing. Instead of
on separate page for each rant the webmaster is looking into combining all
of these rants onto one page.
The webmaster is also trying to develop a database and configure it so that
people can easily access rants that way. It's a slow process since he has to
add all the old rants into the database and then learn how to hook it into
this web site.
Fan mail, (or hate mail), has been coming in too. We are debating posting
some of it on a new page. Also, we have had a request to add a page
specifically about lawyers. We are also considering this as well.
Once again thanks from Anger Central! Stay angry and remember: If you
haven't got something nice to say about something or someone, say it here!
